The Metropolitan Museum's Department of Photographs surveys the history of photography from its invention in the 1830s to the present. The National Archives has acquired over twenty-two million photographs illustrating Canadian reality, and certain aspects of the world in general. The search tool allows to consult almost 400,000 descriptions of photographs, as well as to have access to some 10,000 digitized images on-line.
